Intermediate Education

Intermediate education is for pupils visiting the 7th to 10th years and provides general and vocational education, thus enabling them to choose occupations with practical and advanced theoretical requirements. During two of these years, pupils will carry out a two week industrial placement to assist their choice of occupation.

Pupils are able to acquire the Intermediate Certificate at the end of the 10th year subsequent to successfully passing their exams.

Pupils holding an Intermediate Certificate are entitled to:

  • Vocational training
  • Access to vocational schools
  • Access to specialised technical schools and specialised upper secondary schools

The Advanced Intermediate Certificate

The advanced intermediate certificate can be acquired when the intermediate certificate has been passed with specific grades.

Pupils with an advanced intermediate certificate also have access to all schools belonging to the upper secondary area (senior classes and specialised grammar school).
